Rhino Berlin will be at the ICBF again

In 2015 Rhino Berlin participated at the Internationasl Cargo Bike Festival for the first time.
They will be back this year in the 2016 edition with some fine new products.

New Pannierbag on Wheels Makes Shopping Easier

Dutch-based Greenolution launches the B3 bag: a stylish multifunctional bag for cyclists and travellers

The Dutch-based bike-innovation company Greenolution launches a brand new bag: the B3 bag. Fitting a cyclers’ country as The Netherlands, this waterproof bag combines the best of a pannier with the advantages of a shopping bag on wheels. Constructed with a pull-out handle and free-rolling wheels, the spacious and sturdy B3 bag is extremely suitable for both shopping and traveling.

A pannier usually is either too small or too unwieldy for shopping. The B3 bag solves these problems. It’s equipped with adaptable hooks which can easily be attached to the baggage carrier of any kind of bicycle. In the shop or on the streets, the B3 bag smoothly rolls along with you over the pavement or shop floor. If need be, the user can make extra space within the bag by just rolling out the roll closure top.

Greenolution owner Christian Suurmeijer, an industrial designer, took his inspiration for the B3 bag from his own daily life: “I was wondering why shopping should always be such a hassle. I elt there was a need for spacious bags to take the weekly shopping home with you on your bike. So you can leave the car at home. That’s when I began developing the B3 bag: a smart pannier which makes shopping with your bicycle much easier and much more fun.”

The B3 bag can also be used as a travelling bag. If you travel by train, for instance, you can hook up the bag on a rental bike on arrival, and cycle the last leg of your journey to your destination.

RCE - Network writes about Cycle Logistics

The RCE-Network is a series of Regional Centres for Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development aknowledged by the United Nations University.

It mentions  Cycle Logistics as an example of a succesful business case tackling climate change and it refers to the article by Jos Hermans on this subject in which the International Cargo Bike Festival is mentioned as the annual meeting point of initiators of Cycle Logistics from many countries.
 
In 2016 the International Cargo Bike Festival will take place on 16 April (Conference) and 17 April (Fair) We hope to see you all at the ICBF2016 !

ECLF Third International Conference

 
The 3rd International Conference of the European Cycle Logistics Federation 2015 will be held in San Sebastian/Donostia, Spain and will bring together key players concerned with decarbonising deliveries in urban area, exploring the challenges faced by municipalities and logistics companies in delivering goods and services in heavily populated areas, whilst creating town and cites that are better places to live.
The conference will run over three days from 15 to 17 October 2015

Several speakers from the Netherlands will present at the ECLF Conference; Susanne Balm, Sjors van Duren, Arne Melse, and Ton Daggers.

Cycling Without Age at Cargo Bike Parade and Cargo Bike Festival

Cycling Without Age has been blown over from Denmark, Kopenhagen, to the Netherlands. The city of Nijmegen is cycling ahead. A volunteer ricksha-pilot rides a special designed ricksha, a bicycle with a twoseater in front, and transports two passengers. These passengers are people who do not or hardly come outside by reason of age, mobility and/or social circumstances.

The passengers get the opportunity to feel the wind in their hair. In this way they can visit places where they have not been for a long time, or go where they like to go. It is also a moment of meeting; meeting of the colleague-passenger, the ricksha-pilot and the outside world. The experiences in Denmark are positive and lead to unexpected and beautiful situations and happy people. The expect this to happen in Nijmegen as well. The first reactions are very positive and welcoming.

In the following weeks the residents of the care center Nieuw-Doddendaal will be invited for the first rides in the center of Nijmegen. The ricksha-pilots for now are the 5 enthousiastic members of the projectgroup, which enables this initiative. This group of people will be expanded in coming future by other interested volunteer pilots, young and old.

Cycling Without Age team of volunteers

The first ricksha in the Netherlands has been presented last weekend on the Beleef Plus Beurs in the Triavium. This Sunday, 18th of April, it will be part of the Bakfiets Parade of the Cargo Bike Festival. The riksha can be admired in the afternoon on the Vasim-grounds, you may have a ride as well.
